Commenting on export figures of the chemicals industry in March, Chairman of the Board of Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters Association (İKMİB) Adil Pelister said: “In March our chemicals industry achieved an export value of over 3 billion dollars with a 5.6 percent increase compared to the same month last year and received 13.5 percent share of national exports, becoming the second highest exporter
sector. While there was a decrease in general exports in March, it is pleasing that our chemicals industry remained on the positive side and increased its performance. When we consider figures from the first quarter we see that our export exceeded 8 billion dollars. In this period our export as an industry grew by 7.7 percent. Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products, plastics and products, and inorganic chemicals occupy the top three among our highest exported sub-industries. Among the highest receiver of exports, Holland, Romania, and Italy occupied the top three positions. As İKMİB we intensely continue our activities. Now that the uncertainty associated with election disappeared, we foresee that economics and exports will be emphasized further. We will continue to work more every month to continue to achieve this increase in exports.”
