Amstelveen, the Netherlands – SCREEN Europe is proud to mark its 50th anniversary, celebrating five decades of innovation, growth, and leadership in the printing industry. This significant milestone was celebrated at our new office, where we welcomed colleagues and their families from across Europe, as well as representatives from our parent company in Japan.
Five Decades Pioneering Printing Technology
Since its inception in 1974, SCREEN Europe has grown into a trusted partner for more than 190 printing companies across 40 EMEA countries, with over 250 digital inkjet presses sold, serving industries from commercial print to packaging and label converters.
“We have come a long way, but our mission stays the same–to improve and advance inkjet printing technology,” said Bui Burke, Senior Vice President of Sales at SCREEN Europe. “Together with our colleagues in Japan, we are pushing the boundaries of this complex technology which has earned us a reputation for delivering reliable, cutting-edge inkjet solutions with industry-leading capabilities.”
Fostering Success Through a People-First Approach
SCREEN Europe believes that when employees feel valued, they are empowered to innovate. Many team members have been with us for well over 25 years, adapting to new technologies and continuously developing their skills. This stability has helped us maintain a high level of expertise, providing our partners with a consistent and trusted team as the industry evolves. The continuity of working with the same professionals over the years has also enabled us to build strong, lasting relationships with clients and other printing solution providers, fostering collaboration and innovation.
At the same time, we recognise the importance of evolving our workforce to meet new challenges and have been actively increasing diversity within our team, welcoming talent from various backgrounds, cultures and nationalities. This inclusive approach enriches our organisation with fresh perspectives, helping us better serve the global market and continuously create innovative solutions.
Leading Growth in a Dynamic Market
As the printing industry continues to evolve, so do we. Despite industry consolidation and shifting demand, SCREEN has continued to grow, establishing itself as a key innovator in commercial print, packaging, and label printing markets.
While some sectors of commercial print have slowed, others, such as book printing and transactional print, are experiencing a resurgence. In an increasingly digital world, many brands and publishers are rediscovering the unique value of physical print.
At the same time, the packaging and label sectors are expanding, driven by demands for more thorough product information, enhanced protection, and personalised designs. These trends create significant opportunities for inkjet digital printing solutions, particularly with variable data printing (VDP) capabilities ideally positioned to meet the needs for customised packaging, targeted marketing, and detailed product safety following changing regulations.
Confidence in the Future of Print
Looking ahead, we are confident in the future of the European printing industry and the enduring value of print in today’s world, reflected in the investment in our state-of-the-art Inkjet Innovations Centre (IIC) at our new headquarters. As we move forward, we will continue focusing on sustainability improvements, integrating new developments in automation, and adapting to evolving regulations and market demands to ensure our solutions meet the requirements of tomorrow.
Yukiyoshi Tanaka, President of SCREEN Graphic Solutions Co., Ltd., reflected on this long journey with an even brighter future, saying, “We are immensely proud of how SCREEN GPEU has grown over the years, continuously reaching new heights since its founding. This remarkable journey is a testament to the incredible talent, dedication, and unwavering commitment of all our team—without them, none of this would have been possible. Our people have been the driving force behind our success from the very beginning up until today, with their passion and expertise continuing to shape our future. We remain fully committed to supporting them as we look ahead to the next 50 years of innovation, leadership, and printing success together.”
