$2.5 Billion Chemical Sector Exports in November

Evaluating the November export figures, Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (İKMİB), stated:

“In November, our chemical sector maintained its position as the second-largest exporting sector, with $2.5 billion in exports, capturing 13% of Turkey’s total exports. From January to November this year, our exports exceeded $28 billion. Despite challenges such as slowing global demand, especially in EU countries, inflationary pressures, interest and exchange rate dynamics, and the effects of a petrochemical facility

resuming production after prolonged maintenance, our sector continues to make significant contributions. Both monthly and annually, we are the second-largest contributor to national exports. Our 11-month exports, at over $28 billion, slightly surpass last year’s performance. We remain committed to working tirelessly to close the year on a positive note and support our industry.”

Plastics and derivatives lead november exports

In November, plastics and derivatives led the chemical exports with $790.25 million. Mineral fuels and products ranked second with $599.55 million, followed by inorganic chemicals with $222.75 million. Other key sub-sectors included volatile oils, cosmetics, soaps, pharmaceutical products, rubber items, paints, varnishes, inks, various chemical products, cleaning agents, adhesives, and enzymes.

Netherlands tops november export destinations

The Netherlands was the top export destination in November, with exports worth $214 million. Other leading countries included Italy, the USA, Russia, Romania, Germany, Iraq, Spain, the UK, and Georgia. Among the top 20 countries, the USA recorded the highest growth with a 76.56% increase.
