Roland DG, the world’s leading provider of digital printing solutions, has today announced a partnership with Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona as part of its ongoing campaign to re-energise select hospitals across Europe. The collaboration aims to transform and humanise the hospital’s paediatric and neonatology units, creating welcoming and child-friendly environments.
The transformation – which is being installed over the summer months – will employ Roland DG’s state-of-the-art TrueVIS AP-640 resin printer to bring vibrant and interactive artwork to life. The wall graphics will go across various spaces within the hospital, covering approximately 2,000 square metres, providing an eye-catching display for the 55,000 users who access Hospital de Sant Pau on an annual basis.
The project is designed to promote children’s participation in their medical care, reduce stress and anxiety, and foster a positive attitude towards their medical experience. Developed in collaboration with the creative agency Chispún, the artwork will guide children on a fascinating journey through the human body, enhanced with elements of artificial intelligence. This approach not only aims to make the environment more appealing but also serves an educational purpose, engaging children and making their hospital visits more enjoyable.
Stephen Davis, Marketing Director EMEA , Roland DG, expressed his enthusiasm about the project: “We are thrilled to partner with Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona, an institution that has been serving the city since 1401. Our mission is to leverage our technology to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young patients. Creating a warm, engaging, and stress-free environment for children undergoing medical treatment is a cause we are deeply committed to.”
Dr Susana Boronat, Head of Pediatrics at Hospital de Sant Pau, commented on the partnership: “We are grateful for the support from Roland DG. The transformation of our paediatric and neonatology units with colourful and interactive designs will make a significant difference in the experiences of our young patients and keep up with the hospital’s reputation as an innovator. By creating a more inviting and less intimidating environment, we hope to reduce the anxiety and stress associated with hospital visits. This project exemplifies the positive impact of combining healthcare with innovative technology.”
The TrueVIS AP-640 resin printer, known for its high colour saturation and eco-friendly TrueVIS resin inks, is ideal for sensitive environments like hospitals. Its GREENGUARD Gold certification ensures that the prints meet stringent standards for low chemical emissions, making them safe for use around children and in healthcare settings.
Roland DG’s initiative at Hospital de Sant Pau is a continuation of its broader campaign to redesign select children’s medical facilities across Europe. Previous applications include projects at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children in the UK and Policlinico di Milano in Italy.
