Introduction meeting of Türkiye Green Industry Project conducted by coordination of Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Industry and Technology, Republic of Türkiye Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (KOSGEB), and Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and supported by the World Bank was hosted online by İKMİB on January 16, 2024. Chairman of the Board of İKMİB Adil Pelister, Deputy General Director of the Ministry of Industry and Technology Dr. Ali Murat Sürekli, Vice President of TÜBİTAK Technology and Innovation Support Programs Chairmanship (TEYDEB) Dr. Alp Eren Yurtseven, Industry and Technology Specialist Özkan Özkara at Industry Directorate of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Industry and Technology, KOSGEB SME Deputy Specialist Kutay Kaan Önal, TÜBİTAK Scientific Programs Chief Specialist Dr. Çiğdem Okutan participated in the meeting next to İKMİB-member representatives of the industry.
“Türkiye Green Industry Project” with 450 million dollar budget targets efficient support of green transformation of industrialists, entrepreneurs, and SMEs. With the KOSGEB Green Industry Support Program that entered into force, support up to 14 million liras shall be provided for establishment of solar energy systems within SMEs. The support that will be provided to green transformation projects towards energy, water, and raw material efficiency in addition to sustainable and climate-resistant waste recycling will reach 4 million liras.
TÜBİTAK support will assist companies engaged in R&D and innovation activities towards green production, higher energy and resource efficiency next to cooperations under private sector leadership. Chemicals, plastics, and fertilizer industries among 6 industries focused on in the scope of “Green Growth Technology Roadmap” can apply at the project.
Adil Pelister: “As İKMİB we are ready for cooperation on green transformation and green economy”
In his opening remarks Chairman of the Board of İstanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Assembly (İKMİB) Adil Pelister reminded that as İKMİB they have been preparing sustainability action plan report that will light the path to future of the chemicals industry and said: “All matters that we have been discussing from the beginning of 2000’s and will discuss from today to 2050 starting with European Green Deal, green economy, digital transformation, Industry 4.0, and Society 5.0 are built on ‘Sustainability’ as their source. ‘Ecology and Economics’ are not intertwined. In this scope charging of green and transformational economy on environment-friendly technologies is also important. We, as İKMİB are open to all green transformation and green economy related developments in the framework of sustainability moving from the fact that chemicals industry contact other industries. We heartily support Türkiye Green Industry Project started under leadership of our Ministry of Industry and Technology in coordination with KOSGEB and TÜBİTAK and with support of the World Bank for SMEs to realize a healthy transformation. We are ready to realize any duties that we will be charged with for its success. We particularly think that SMEs with limited means for accessing such supports and our exporters must benefit from this support and as İKMİB we would like to present our thanks to all institutions, organizations, professional non-governmental organizations that lead, initiate, and contribute to the support program.”
Deputy General Director of Industry and Ministry of Industry and Technology, Dr. Ali Murat Sürekli said: “Our project that will last for 6 years with a total budget of 450 million dollars also hosts cooperation among institutions. It is conducted with cooperation of our Directorate General together with KOSGEB and TÜBİTAK. This project that mainly targets our companies starting from the production industry take their main target transformational economy as basis to benefit from the power of renewable energy, develop energy-efficient technologies and adopt principles of transformational economy will also encourage economic growth.”
Vice Chairman of TÜBİTAK Technology and Innovation Support Programs (TEYDEB) Dr. Alp Eren Yurtseven said: “In the scope of the project we as TÜBİTAK also support all product and process development activities of the private sector towards green transformation. TÜBİTAK has various different support mechanisms towards the private sector. The support programs we undertake predominantly include grant mechanisms. We can start different calls in the scope of our program titled “Reimbursement and Grant Support Program for Industrial R&D Projects”. We stated 3 calls namely, Green Innovation Technology Mentorship Call, Green Transformation in Industry Call, R&D and Innovation Networks Towards Technology (SAYEM) Green Transformation Call.”
